Yesterday was one of the busiest and memorable days at the club this year - over 20 flights, Geddes worked his socks off flying Francesca, Derek, Alexander and giving Mary a memorable trial flight whose smile at the end said it all. The day went into overdrive with two hours to sunset and the youf team extracting the Junior for Alexander and the Pig for Angie and Anne to take to the skies relieving pressure on the use of the ASK-21, Toni was drafted in as cover to helm the Eurofox and a short while later probably set the record for the lowest age of an aerotow combination when she launched Francesca on her first solo and then repeated the feat on the next flight for Alexander in his first single seater flight in the Junior. The Pig duly took the south strip after the calmness reduced soaring opportunities in order to keep operations flowing and somewhat appropriately came to rest sinking in mud. The Duo had been busy all day with Team Mountain taking two flights (Quote, 'coming back to swap positions') and Stuart took two flights, one with Thomas an exchange student from South Africa who enjoyed an hour and then Stuart persuaded Ruari to take the last flight of the day, staying up with Stuart long enough to ensure the hangar was fully packed - hopefully more of that Ruari! Well done all - a brilliant day.
And now we have the club flying week ahead, with visitors from the far south - Terry, Kevin, Martin and Andy - and we had to scrub today because of an excessively gusty south wind on the deck. We've also scrubbed tomorrow and Tuesday in advance and tied down anything that might get whacked around a bit by the remnants of Ophelia. Fingers crossed for better luck later in the week.
