Following the visit by the group from RAF Wattisham in September, it was heartening to receive this letter from Allison Eke, who was in charge of the expedition:

"Thank you to both your clubs and members for hosting us during our recent adventurous training expedition and please pass on our thanks and gratitude for all those who helped make the trip such a great success.
The progress made by the 4 junior soldiers, coming as they do from a large, flat, accessible airfield, was particularly satisfying; at least one has proclaimed it as his 'best ever' adventurous training exercise - high praise indeed! The challenges presented by a smaller airfield in the hills were met with enthusiasm and skill; their airmanship and love for gliding has been the winner. The friendly and helpful attitude of your members and, of course, the excellent weather we experienced helped make it memorable for all.
On a personal note it was lovely to renew old acquaintances and to experience my first wave flying in your Astir.
I'm sure it will come as no surprise to hear that we are all hopeful you will allow us to return next September."

We're glad they enjoyed their visit, delighted that they made such good progress, and look forward to seeing them again in 2015.
